Jakov: Ask the Lord what you can do
“True, it is a difficult time because of the crisis, but do not ask the Lord what He can do for you, but what you can do for this world. You have to react” Medjugorje visionary Jakov Colo told a packed cathedral in Malo, Italy, on January 11. He also emphasized the importance of the family.
Medjugorje visionary Jakov Colo was paraphrasing former US President John F. Kennedy during his talk to 2,000 people in the cathedral of Malo, Italy, on Friday.
Yet where Kennedy said, “Do not ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”, Jakov included the entire world in what he said.
“True, it is a difficult time because of the crisis, but do not ask the Lord what He can do for you but what you can do for this world. You have to react” he said, according to the regional newspaper Il Giornale di Vicenza.
Coming from all over the province of Vicenza, the audience was “visibly involved” and had “many pressing questions” – about Jakov’s yearly apparitions on Christmas Day, and about the 10 prophetic secrets that the visionaries say the Virgin Mary has either already enstrusted or will entrust to each of them:
“Do not always ask me about the secrets. It is not important” Jakov replied, instead emphasizing the Virgin Mary’s basic Medjugorje message as the more important issue.
“We will know (the secrets) when we are being instructed to reveal them” he added.
Jakov, jokingly, rebuked that many Italians are not accustomed to sacrifice, an integral part of the Medjugorje message:
“For example, you get scared if you hear of fasting. But with prayer and fasting you can stop wars” he said.
The visionary further emphasized the importance of the family:
“The family can only stand if it includes the Lord. I see so many broken families and many young people who marry without knowing the true value of marriage” Jakov said.
“Our loved ones are the basis of everything: when my three children ask me to pray with them, it makes me feel as a father, and I do not think that my children are unusual.”
