Fires cancel planned public apparition
Bush fires between Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain made ashes fall all over Medjugorje on Friday, and turned visionary Ivan Dragicevic’s public apparition on the hill into a much smaller private meeting in his chapel. Medjugorje is safe though the fire once moved towards the village.

Bush fires are not uncommon during Medjugorje’s hot Summer. On August 31, one of them forced visionary Ivan Dragicevic to move his planned outdoor apparition inside
Thousands of pilgrims got ashes instead of the Virgin Mary descending from the sky on August 31 when bush fires between the two local mountains forced visionary Ivan Dragicevic to cancel his planned public outdoor apparition to meet in his chapel with his prayer group instead.
During daytime on Friday, there were times when the fires moved towards Medjugorje, Tim Haley informed to the Medjugorje Live message board. In the evening, Informazioni da Medjugorje reported that the wind had calmed down and stopped the fires’ movement towards inhabited areas.
“The winds have died down, thank God, I know the fire has not spread any closer to Medjugorje. It is still raging behind both hills, and the smoke in Medjugorje makes breathing a little difficult, it is ‘snowing’ ash all evening” travel agency Joe Walsh Tours informed.
About the same time it was decided to cancel the public apparition scheduled to take place on Apparition Hill at 10.30 pm.
